Typography Terms Visual Glossary
When you’re new to design there’s a lot to learn, even before you get out the big, complex software. A glossary of typography terms can be an extremely helpful resource, even if you only skim it the first time.
Typography and fonts seem like a pretty basic concept. I mean, they’re just letters, right? Well, yes, technically. But learning learning all the design lingo can be enough to make you want to tear your hair out. Typefaces, glyphs, kerning and descenders. And um, what the heck is a tittle?
Stay with me, now. We’re going to explore fonts and typography terms from the beginning. I promise you it’s not as boring as it sounds. If you’re a design newbie, you will definitely want to bookmark this page, and refer back to it as you create your designs.
